The Skill Score: How We Measure Professional Growth
The Skill Score is a composite metric (0-100) that measures four dimensions of professional communication:
The Four Pillars
- Typing (25%) — WPM and accuracy across tests and lessons
- Grammar (25%) — Readability score and error-to-word ratio
- Focus (25%) — Pomodoro consistency and deep work hours
- Resume (25%) — Resume score, ATS readiness, keyword match
EMA Smoothing
We use Exponential Moving Average smoothing so your score changes gradually. Recent activity matters more, but one bad day won't tank your score. This is the same technique used in financial markets.
Score Decay
Scores decay 2% per week without practice. This isn't a penalty — it reflects reality. Skills atrophy without use. The decay creates a healthy incentive to practice consistently.
Score Tiers
0-19: Beginner | 20-39: Developing | 40-59: Intermediate | 60-79: Advanced | 80-100: Expert
